Website......Radiation at Coles Hill Reported
(The following is from Crystal Huffman, SCC Petition Chairwoman)
I have been doing some research and I found an article in the Roanoke Times via www.roanoke.com . It was written on Oct 29,2007.
There were several things in it that caught my eye; the first being 3rd section down in which it reads:
“The groundwater from which he drinks (Coles) is suspected of being high in radon, a potentially hazardous gas, and the bricks that make up his home register higher than normal levels of radioactivity.”
Further on down in the article, VUI’s Norm Reynolds said, “When driving past Coles Hill, the radiation levels "suddenly got very high, so we stopped and started looking around." They found rocks in roadside ditches that, when measured, also shot readings off the chart.”
If I recall correctly the spokesman for VUI at the BZA meeting said that there was only a trace amount of radiation at Coles Hill. How can that be correct when there own officials have admitted to high levels?
