2008............A Very Good Year !

(The following is from Gregg Vickrey, SCC Coordinator, Action Committee

Hi Folks,

Looks like 2008 is starting out very good for us!

Tonight, the Pittsylvania County Planning Commission voted 4 to 3 to recommend denying VUI's (AKA Southside Cattle Company) special use permit. While this is mostly symbolic, IT SHOWS WHAT WE CAN DO TOGETHER! This vote sends a NEW MESSAGE TO OUR TOWN COUNCILS, OUR BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, AND OUR STATE LEGISLATORS. Special accolades go to Dr. Charles Miller, the commissioner that made the motion to deny the permit.

Congratulations to all of you that made this happen! It's your caring, your hard work, your dedication to defeating uranium mining in Pittsylvania County that will carry us though to victory!

Take a breath, enjoy the moment, then let's get geared up to have an EVEN LARGER turn out for the next important meeting. Tonight, we won a skirmish in a larger battle for zoning. These small victories will add up to OUR WINNING THE WAR!

Thank you so much for being there and HECK NO, WE WON'T GLOW!

I will write more to you tomorrow,

Gregg
