3 Dems, 2 Reps Sponsor Uranium Study Bill

Uranium Mining Study Bill Introduced in Senate!
Three Democrats and One Republican co-sponsored a Uranium Mining Study bill (SB 525) offered by Rep. Sen. Frank W Wagner from Virginia Beach. The bill apparently was originally tendered on Wednesday, January 9, 2008.
Co-sponsors include:
  • Sen Phillip P Puckett, Dem. Tazewell
  • Sen Richard L Saslaw, Dem. Springfield
  • Sen John C Watkins, Rep. Midlothian
  • Sen Mary Margaret Whipple, Dem. Arlington

A short summary of the bill states: "Establishes a 15 - member executive branch commission to assess the risks and benefits of developing uranium resources in Virginia.

Either SB525 is being revised or it is deliberately being withheld from public access through the Legislative Information System (LIS). A link to the bill's text simply isn't available right now (2:30 pm) Friday which seems a little fishy to me.

Here's the link to the bill's text:

It's days before the bill appears in the Topic List at the LIS site but when it's in the Topic List, the links to the text are dead.

I'd say you have an opponent here...the bill's major proponent and chief beneficiary...who's not going to play too well with others. He hasn't so far...why would he start now?

You've got to make the link to the text available to the public through the blog until the Assembly staff is allowed to do so. SCC is so lucky to have this blog!

Continued endurance and luck to the masses!
