During the House of Representatives' district work period in August, 5th District Rep. Tom Perriello will hold "Tom in Your Town" events, including ones in Chatham and Rustburg.
The events are a chance for constituents to meet one-on-one with Perriello to discuss policy issues, offer suggestions or to get help with federal programs and veterans' benefits. Meetings are on a first-come, first-served basis. After the constituent meets with the congressman, staff members will be there to follow up with any concerns.
Meetings are scheduled Thursday, Aug. 6, at Chatham Middle School on U.S. 29, and Friday, Aug. 28, at the Campbell County Technical Center on Dennis Riddle Drive in Rustburg. Both meetings run from 6-8 p.m.
Perriello, a first-term Democratic representative from Albemarle County, said he would visit every locality in the district during the recess. The schedule can be accessed at www.perriello.house.gov under newsroom, then upcoming events.
