Watch the Dec. 2 Virginia Beach City Council Meeting!
On Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, SCC's president Jack Dunavant, treasurer Wallace Nunn and member Andrew Lester, along with CELDF's community organizer for Virginia, Shireen Parsons, traveled to Virginia Beach to meet with and speak to the City Council regarding the Council's desire to pass an anti-uranium mining resolution. Both Jack and Shireen spoke to the Council and were well-received.
If you'd like to watch their presentations, and the responses of the Council, including the passage of the resolution, the City Council's archive of the meeting is here:

Virginia Beach is definitely on board, and on record, as being anti-mining since doing so at Coles Hill will contaminate its drinking water supply. It is hoped that the Council will soon take the next step and pass an ordinance such as that passed by Halifax.
