The provincial fire centre has named the 100-hectare blaze, about 570 kilometres north of Saskatoon, the "High Rock" fire.
It's near the Key Lake operation, the largest uranium milling operation in the world, according to majority owner Cameco Corp.
The company is taking steps to reduce risks, Cameco spokesman Gord Struthers said.
"We've set out some sprinklers as a precaution, and are using some heavy equipment to cut some fire breaks and are working in co-operation with the Ministry of Environment people, who have a crew up working in the area," he said.
The mine camp is safe for now, he said. The number of people working at the camp wasn't immediately available.
"The prevailing winds are away from the camp, and it's also behind a chain of lakes, and apparently they were getting some rain up there as well," Struthers said.
On Tuesday, 75 forest fires were burning in the province. There have been 375 to date this year, compared with 327 by the same time last year.
