NH Prosecutor: Drinking Water Had Uranium In It

Eeeek! I'll bet there are agencies, regulations, laws, and government officials that are supposed to protect folks from things like this. Whattaya think?

OSSIPEE, N.H. (AP) - The water company in Tamworth, N.H., has been charged with delivering water contaminated with uranium.

An indictment in Superior Court in Ossipee accuses the Lakes Region Water Co. of delivering the contaminated water during a three-week period last year.

Lawyer James Rosenberg says the indictment does not allege any threat to public safety and the family-owned company acted immediately to cut off the tainted water. Rosenberg says the company - based in Moultonborough - is working with the state on the issue.

Separately, some residents in Tamworth are suing the company based on a month-long fecal bacteria scare in the summer of 2007.
