FREDERICTON (CP) — Students from across New Brunswick are urging the province to close the door on uranium exploration in the province.
Six youth environmental groups sent letters today to every member of legislature to express their concern about proposed uranium mining in Kent County and across the province.
Spokesperson Elizabeth Vickers-Drennan says she hopes the letter will show politicians they can’t be silent on this issue.
In the letter, the students cite health concerns as the main reason they oppose uranium exploration and development.
They’re also concerned about the long-term effects on the environment.
